Biography

Valeria Peter Predescu, born on October 24, 1947 in Telciu, Romania, was a folk singer. She began her career in 1972 at the state regional television station TVR Cluj. Her breakthrough came in 1977 when she won the "Floarea din grădină" (Flower from the Garden) competition, which brought her national recognition. Predescu released numerous albums throughout her career, including Ia-mă-n Brațe, Dorule (1980), and Colinde Și Pricesne (1992). Her repertoire included traditional folk music, religious songs, and Christmas carols. Predescu was also a published author, releasing four books. She received several awards and was inducted into the Academia Artelor Tradiționale (Academy of Traditional Arts) in Sibiu. Predescu passed away on April 28, 2009, in Bistrița, Romania.
