Biography

Valeria Lynch, born María Cristina Lancelotti on January 7, 1952, in Villa Urquiza, Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a singer. At age 14, she began studying singing and drama, making her television debut in 1969 on La Botica del Ángel. Lynch's breakthrough came in the early 1970s when she performed in the musical Hair at Teatro Argentino. She released her first album, Valeria Lynch, in 1977, which included her version of "Mujer Sola". Throughout the 1980s, Lynch's success spread across Latin America with albums like Capricornio (1980) and Quereme (1982), the latter earning a Grammy Award nomination for "Best Latin Album." Her role as Eva Perón in the rock opera Evita, directed by Harold Prince, further boosted her international career. Notable hits include "Mentira" and "Amiga Mia". In 1985, she released Para Cantarle a la Vida, which became one of the best-selling albums in the region. Lynch's music reached audiences in Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, Romania, Italy, and the former Soviet Union. She signed with RCA Ariola in 1984, marking her most successful career point, selling millions of recordings.
