MarÃa Trinidad Pérez de Miravete Mille, born 12 July 1947 in Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia, Spain, was a Spanish singerâsongwriter who emerged from a modest background and a prolonged illness that fostered her musical interest. After initial training in guitar and songwriting, she was discovered by director Nicholasâ¯Ray and relocated to London, then Paris, where she recorded French covers and original material, gaining exposure on Guyâ¯Luxâs Domino. In 1970 MarÃa Trinidad Pérez de Miravete Mille released Amores with Hispavox, marking her breakthrough; the title track "Amores" and "Un hombre marchó" achieved national airplay. She followed with Escúchame (1971), Ventanas (1973), ¿Quién? (1974), and Canta en francés (1975), solidifying her reputation as a cantautora artist. The 1982 album Una estrella en mi jardÃn produced the hit "Una estrella en mi jardÃn", which later appeared in a 2012 television advertisement. In 1995 she issued Sin barreras with diverse influences, and in 2001 the collaboration Mari Trini con Los Panchos earned a gold disc before the labelâs bankruptcy forced a withdrawal of remaining copies. She received a Multidiamond disc in 2005 for over ten million sales, and the 2024 publication of her biography Yo no soy esa que tú te imaginas further documented her legacy. MarÃa Trinidad Pérez de Miravete Mille died 7 April 2009 in Murcia from liver cancer.
