Born in Bombay on April 25, 1947, Vaishali Samant is a renowned Indian singer and composer, mainly active in the Marathi and Bollywood film industry. Originally from Maharashtra, she is best known for her expressive vocal performances in several languages, including Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali. She came to prominence in the early 2000s through her collaboration with renowned composer A.R. Rahman on film soundtracks such as Lagaan and Saathiya. Her vocal style blends traditional Indian music, contemporary pop and filmi influences. She has sung over 2000 songs in various Indian languages, including the 2025 hit "Jinguchaa" for the film Thug Life.
