Biography

Tyler Richard Yarema, born on October 27, 1972, is a Canadian singer-songwriter. A self-taught pianist, Yarema's early musical influences included stride musicians such as Willie "the Lion" Smith and Fats Waller. After moving to Toronto in 1994, Yarema became a regular performer at nightclubs, gaining traction by playing alongside notable artists like Jeff Healey and Doug Riley. In 2003, he formed Tyler Richard Yarema and His Rhythm. Throughout his career, Yarema has played, produced, arranged, and sung on over 40 albums. He joined Downchild Blues Band in 2021 following the death of their keyboard player Michael Fonfara. Yarema's notable achievements include winning New Artist of The Year at the Maple Blues Awards in 1998, Piano Player of the Year in 1999, and Best Keyboard Player from Now Magazine in 2002.
