Morgan Davis, a Canadian blues singer and guitarist, was born in Detroit, Michigan. He spent his childhood there before relocating to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and later moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2001. His breakthrough came with the hit song "Why'd You Lie", featured on Colin James' 1988 debut album Colin James. Davis released his principal major label album, Morgan Davis, on Stony Plain Records, produced by Colin Linden. In 2003, he received a Juno Award for his album Painkiller on Electro-Fi Records. Notable songs include "Reefer Smokin' Man", described as a "blues cult classic". His discography includes albums such as Hogtown Years (2003), At Home in Nova Scotia (2007), and I Got My Own (2014). Throughout his career, Morgan Davis won multiple awards, including the Maple Blues Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2005 and Producer of the Year (with Alec Fraser) for Painkiller in 2004.
