Biography

Trotsky Icepick is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, United States, formed in 1983. They took their name from Leon Trotsky and his assassination. The group's early background is marked by the involvement of alumni from various LA indie groups such as The Last, Urinals (100 Flowers), Middle Class, Cockeyed Ghost, and Leaving Trains. Their initial release as Trotsky Icepick was the album Poison Summer (1986) on SST Records. This was followed by Baby (1988), El Kabong (1989), and The Ultraviolet Catastrophe (1991). The band released subsequent albums including Carpetbomb the Riff (1993) and Hot Pop Hello (1994), all under SST Records. Trotsky Icepick's discography extends into the 2020s with releases on Poison Summer Records, such as the album I Haunted Myself (2019) and the Acrylic EP (2020).
