Davide Petrella, born 6 August 1985 in Naples, Italy, is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer and lyricist who performs as Tropico. He began with the band Le Strisce, releasing three albums before focusing on songwriting. He collaborated with Cesare Cremonini on Logico and has since written for artists including Gianna Nannini, Elisa, Jovanotti and Mahmood. In 2019 he began his solo career with the singles âNon Esiste Amore a Napoliâ and âDopplerâ. His debut solo album, Non Esiste Amore a Napoli, was released on 24 September 2021; subsequent singles âNuda Sexy Noiaâ and âContrabbandoâ (2022) maintained his presence as a recording artist. In 2023 he released Chiamami quando la magia finisce. His songwriting credits include Marco Mengoniâs âDue viteâ and Lazzaâs âCenereâ, which finished first and second at the 73rd Sanremo Music Festival.
