Lauro De Marinis (born in Verona on July 11, 1990), known as Achille Lauro, is an Italian rapper and singer with Latin influences who got his start in rap in Rome as a teenager. He released his debut album, Achille Idol Immortale, in 2014, followed by God Is There (2015), Ragazzi Madre (2016), and Pour L'amour (2018), an eclectic mix of samba and trap. In addition to his studio albums, he released the mixtapes Barabba (2013), Harvard (2013), and the EP Young Crazy in 2015, all of which helped propel him to the forefront of Italian hip-hop. After appearing at the legendary Sanremo Festival in 2018 with the previously unreleased single âRolls Royceâ, Achille Lauro released 1969 (2019), an album in which the MC gave free rein to his rock-star fantasies by adopting a more mainstream pop-rock sound, inspired by local Italian legends such as Lucio Battisti, Rino Gaetano, and Vasco Rossi. The album quickly climbed to number three on the Italian FIMI chart and caught the attention of Elektra Records, which released 1990 (2020), Achille Lauroâs sixth full-length album and his first number-one hit. Featuring Annalisa, Capo Plaza, and Ghali, this album consisted largely of reinterpretations of synth-pop and dance hits from the 1980s and 1990s, marking yet another unpredictable shift for this Italian maverick. That same year, the singer and rapper followed up with a second album of covers, the very jazzy 1920, credited to Achille Lauro & the Untouchable Band and featuring Gigi DâAlessio, Annalisa, Gemitaiz, and Izi. In 2021, Lauro was a pop-rock-oriented album, enriched with brass, strings, electric guitars, and synthesizers. A double-vinyl edition with bonus tracks was released in 2022 under the title Lauro - Achille Idol Superstar. Following collaborations with Rose Villain, as well as with Salmo and Gemitaiz, Achille Lauro fused Italian pop, rap, and rock in Comuni mortali (2025), featuring the singles âAmore disperatoâ (No. 4), âIncoscienti giovaniâ (No. 3), and âAmorâ (No. 6). The No. 1 album was followed a year later by a reissue titled Comuni Immortali, which peaked at No. 7 and featured a duet with Antonello Venditti.
