Translator, from Los Angeles, California, United States, formed in 1979. Steve Barton, Larry Dekker, Dave Scheff, and Robert Darlington formed the new wave, alternative rock, and power pop group before relocating to San Francisco. Their demo tape featuring "Everywhere That I'm Not" gained traction, leading to a signing with Howie Klein's independent label 415 Records. They released the debut album Heartbeats and Triggers (1982), produced by David Kahne, which became an underground hit. Between 1983 and 1986, they completed three more albums: No Time Like Now (1983), Translator (1985), and Evening of the Harvest (1986). Notable songs include "Un-Alone" (1983) and "Gravity" (1985), "O Lazarus" (1985), and "Fall Forever" (1985). On April 17, 2012, they released the album Big Green Lawn (2012).
