Tomoko Aran, born Tomoko Yamaguchi on January 14, 1958 in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, is a singer-songwriter. She began her songwriting career in the late 1970s and released nine albums and eight singles from 1981 to 1990 under Warner Pioneer and CBS/Sony. Her debut album Shinkei Suijaku was released in 1981, followed by her first single "Kanashiki Vaudevillian". In 1983, she released the notable album Fuyū Kūkan, which featured computer-generated imagery on its cover. Aran's work often explored themes of women living in the spotlight. Her music gained renewed attention in the 2010s with the rise of city pop, leading to vinyl single releases of "Midnight Pretenders" and "I'm in Love" from Fuyū Kūkan in September 2021.
