The American singer/songwriter Tommy Marz was raised in Detroit, Michigan, where he began playing drums at age 10. By 2004, he had shifted his focus to electric guitar, serving as the frontman and guitarist of the local band Go To Zero. The band released a popular cover of George Michael's "Faith," which went viral after Michael retweeted the clip to his audience. That momentum stayed with Marz as he formed his own project, the Tommy Marz Band. The group's hard rock sound earned the Tommy Marz Band a number of touring opportunities, including shows alongside acts like Fuel, Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, Creed frontman Scott Stamp, and Great White. The group also released two studio albums — 2015's Bringing Alpha and 2018's Seventy One Trips Around the Sun — before Marz began releasing music under his own name in 2022, thus kicking off his solo career. "15," debut single outside of the band, featured contributions from The Smashing Pumpkins' Jeff Schroeder and became a hit across multiple formats, thanks to its combination of rock, pop, and dance influences. Throughout 2022 and 2023, the crossover hit peaked at Number 28 on the Billboard Mainstream Adult Contemporary Radio Airplay chart, Number 25 on Billboard's Digital Sales Electro/Dance chart, Number 3 on the US iTunes Dance Chart, and Number 22 on the iHeartRadio AC Top 40.
