Biography

Ban Tomiko, was born on 9 January 1979 in Yabe, Kumamoto, Japan, and began her career as a singer. After finishing high school, she moved to Tokyo, where producers from Avex discovered her and she joined the band Do As Infinity in 1999, contributing to the debut single "Tangerine Dream". The group’s success continued until its 2005 disbandment, after which Tomiko Van launched a solo career under Avex Trax. Her first solo album, Farewell, was released on 29 March 2006 and entered the Oricon Top 10, while the single "Flower" peaked at number 10 on the charts. She followed with the single "Yumeji"(2006), the cover albums Voice ~cover you with love~ (2007) and Voice 2 ~cover lovers rock~ (2008), and her original album Van (2008), which reached number 28 on Oricon. Tomiko Van’s work extended beyond music into acting with roles in the musical "Bibō no Aozora" (2005) and the film "Heat Island" (2007), and she contributed to anime soundtracks such as Reideen.
