Ban Tomiko, was born on 9â¯Januaryâ¯1979 in Yabe, Kumamoto, Japan, and began her career as a singer. After finishing high school, she moved to Tokyo, where producers from Avex discovered her and she joined the band Doâ¯Asâ¯Infinity in 1999, contributing to the debut single "Tangerine Dream". The groupâs success continued until its 2005 disbandment, after which Tomikoâ¯Van launched a solo career under Avex Trax. Her first solo album, Farewell, was released on 29â¯Marchâ¯2006 and entered the Oricon Topâ¯10, while the single "Flower" peaked at numberâ¯10 on the charts. She followed with the single "Yumeji"(2006), the cover albums Voiceâ¯~cover you with love~ (2007) and Voiceâ¯2â¯~cover lovers rock~ (2008), and her original album Van (2008), which reached numberâ¯28 on Oricon. Tomikoâ¯Vanâs work extended beyond music into acting with roles in the musical "BibÅ no Aozora" (2005) and the film "Heat Island" (2007), and she contributed to anime soundtracks such as Reideen.
