The group released their self-titled EP that year through Black Box Recordings. Tombs signed to Relapse Records and released Winter Hours in 2009, featuring Carson James on bass and Andrew Hernandez on drums. Their subsequent album, Path of Totality, produced by John Congleton in 2011, was named Album of the Year by Decibel magazine. The band toured extensively across North America and Europe, sharing stages with acts like Isis and Pelican. In 2014, Tombs released Savage Gold through Relapse Records. Produced by Erik Rutan, the album showcased a heavier sound influenced by black and death metal. The band followed with the EP All Empire Fall in 2016 and the fourth album The Grand Annihilation in 2017.
