Biography

Tino Derado is a German jazz musician known for his skills on piano and accordion and for his openness to world music influences. He began classical piano lessons at age six and later became involved with jazz and world music as a teenager. Derado studied at the Berklee College of Music and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in the USA, where he became active in the jazz and Latin music scenes. His debut album Luminescence was released in 2003, followed by several more albums. He has collaborated with numerous artists including Gary Burton, Peter Erskine, Bob Moses, Randy Brecker, and Richard Bona, among others. He composed the music for the film Yugotrip, directed by his sister Nadya Derado. Since returning to Germany, he has worked with various musicians and ensembles and has held teaching positions at the Berlin University of the Arts since 2009 and at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media since 2014.
