Tilly and the Wall, formed in Omaha, Nebraska in 2001, was an American indie pop group whose lineup featured Jamie Pressnall on tapâdriven percussion, Derek Pressnall on guitar, Kianna Alarid on vocals and shakers, Neely Jenkins on bass, and Nick White on keyboards. The bandâs first selfâreleased EP, Woo! (2003), established their unconventional sound and led to a 7â³ release on Rue Royale Records. Their debut album, Wild Like Children (2004), issued by Team Love Records, earned critical acclaim and launched national tours with Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley, and Of Montreal. In 2006, Bottoms of Barrels (2006) followed, accompanied by the single "The Freest Man" (2007), which received a CSS remix; the group appeared on Late Show with David Letterman and performed at Coachella. The 2008 album o featured singles "Pot Kettle Black" and "Beat Control"; the former was featured in the film Whip It and the video game Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Heavy Mood (2012) was released on Team Love, marking the bandâs final studio effort before their dissolution. The groupâs work remains noted for its unique tapâdrumming percussion and collaborations with acts such as Jenny Lewis and Bright Eyes.
