The New Pornographers are a Canadian indie rock band formed in 1997 in Vancouver, British Columbia, comprising Carl Newman, Neko Case, John Collins, Todd Fancey, and Kathryn Calder. Their breakthrough came with the release of Mass Romantic in 2000, which entered the top 40 of The Village Voice Pazz & Jop poll and earned critical praise for its powerâpop energy. Subsequent albums followed in a steady cadence: Electric Version (2003), Twin Cinema (2005), Challengers (2007), Together (2010), Brill Bruisers (2014), Whiteout Conditions (2017), In the Morse Code of Brake Lights (2019), Continue as a Guest (2023), and The Former Site Of (2026). Notable singles include "Myriad Harbour" (2007) and "Really Really Light" (2023). The band has collaborated with St.â¯Vincent, Beirutâs Zach Condon, and Okkervil Riverâs Will Sheff, and has toured extensively, performing fullâalbum runs of Mass Romantic and Twin Cinema. Their work has consistently charted, with Brill Bruisers peaking at number 13 on the U.S. Billboard 200, and they have been recognized in Rolling Stone and Blender rankings for their albums.
