Biography

Thunderstorm Artis, born Luke H. K. Kainoa on March 14, 1992, in Honolulu, Hawaii, is a singer and songwriter whose musical roots are firmly planted in folk traditions. After performing locally at community festivals and refining his craft under the mentorship of Hawaiian folk legends, Thunderstorm Artis released his debut single "Sedona" in 2020, which garnered attention on regional radio and online streaming platforms. In October 2022 he followed with the single "Stronger", a track that reached number 30 on the Billboard Folk Airplay chart. Thunderstorm Artis has since signed with an independent label, embarked on a nationwide tour supporting emerging folk artists, and collaborated with fellow Hawaiian musicians on a live acoustic EP that was praised for its authentic storytelling. His work earned him a nomination for Best Folk Artist at the 2023 Americana Music Honors and Awards. Other singles that followed include "I Just Want to Know You" (2025), "Saved My Life" (2026), "Storybook" (2026), and "Island Style" (2026), cementing his presence in the contemporary folk scene.
