A classically trained guitarist, Thibault Cauvin has achieved international renown for his interpretations of the Baroque repertoire and his covers of popular themes from film and song. Born in Bordeaux on July 16, 1984, he began playing guitar at the age of five with his father Philippe Cauvin, then studied at the Bordeaux Conservatoire and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, where his teacher was Olivier Chassain. Winner of thirteen international first prizes between 2002 and 2004, including the Andrès Segovia Competition in Linares (Spain), Thibault Cauvin embarked on a solo career with recitals around the world and recordings. His first releases include the first volume in the Cities series (2012) and the albums Danse avec Scarlatti (2013) and Le Voyage d'Albéniz (2014). Under contract to Sony Classical, he subsequently recorded the baroque and classical guitar recitals Thibault Cauvin (2015) and The Vivaldi Album (2016), then covers of popular themes in Cities II (2018), featuring Matthieu Chedid, Erik Truffaz, Ballaké Sissoko, Didier Lockwood, Léa Desandre and Christian-Pierre La Marca. After the release of Thibault Cauvin Plays Leo Brouwer (2020), devoted to the Cuban composer's Ãtudes, the guitarist performs pieces popularized by cinema in Films (2021), featuring trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary. Two years later came the baroque recital Bach (2023), followed by a two-guitar collaboration with Matthieu Chedid on the instrumental album L'Heure Miroir (2024), featuring adaptations of various songs. In 2026, he released an album of his own compositions, Alter Ego, inspired by his travels around the world.
