Biography
The Zeros is an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Chula Vista, California. The original lineup included Javier Escovedo on vocals and guitar, Robert Lopez on guitar, Hector Penalosa on bass, and Baba Chenelle on drums. In 1977, they played their first major gig at the Orpheum in Los Angeles, where the show was opened by The Germs. Their debut single, "Wimp / Don't Push Me Around" (1977), was released on Bomp! Records. They released several singles, including "Beat Your Heart Out / Wild Weekend" (1978) and "Getting Nowhere Fast / They Say That (Everything's Alright)" (1980). After touring extensively, they disbanded in 1980. They resurfaced to release the album Knocking Me Dead (1994). They reunited for tours in Spain in 2007, the West Coast in 2009, and the East Coast in 2010.
