The Rezillos formed in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1976, emerging with a punk and new wave sound inspired by 1950s rock 'n' roll, 1960s beat music, and glam rock. Known for their playful approach and science fiction themes, the band quickly gained popularity with singles like Can't Stand My Baby and their UK Top 20 hit âTop of the Popsâ in 1978. Their debut album, Can't Stand the Rezillos, released the same year, became a British punk classic. However, tensions led to the band's split only four months later. Vocalists Eugene Reynolds and Fay Fife continued as the Revillos until 1985, later reuniting briefly for tours in the 1990s. The Rezillos reformed in 2001, performing internationally and releasing occasional singles like âNo 1 Boyâ (2009) and âOut of This Worldâ (2011). Despite lineup changes, they continued touring into the 2010s, securing their status as enduring pioneers of punk and new wave.
