Biography

The Tights were an English punk rock band from Worcester. The group, consisting of Rob Banks on guitars, Barry Island (aka Gary Marsden) on bass guitar and keyboards, Rick Mayhew on drums, and Malcolm Orgee on vocals, released their first two singles in 1978: "Bad Hearts"/"It"/"Cracked" and "Howard Hughes"/"China's Eternal", both through Cherry Red Records. The single "Bad Hearts" reached number 6 in the UK punk chart after being played by John Peel on BBC Radio 1, while their follow-up "Howard Hughes" peaked at number 4. After playing a farewell gig at London’s Marquee Club in 1979, the band disbanded. In 2004, The Tights reformed.
