The Suicide Commandos is an American punk rock trio from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1975. The band consisted of Steve Almaas on bass and vocals, Dave Ahl on drums and vocals, and Chris Osgood on guitar and vocals. They released their first two singles "Emission Control" (1976) and "Mark He's a Terror" (1977). In 1977, they signed with Blank Records, a subsidiary of Mercury Records, and released their debut album Make a Record (1978). They disbanded in 1980. Their live album The Suicide Commandos Commit Suicide Dance Concert (1979) was released before they broke up. In 2017, they reunited to release their second studio album Time Bomb (2017), which included the single "Boogieâs Coldest Acre" (2017). They were recognized with a star on the outside mural of the Minneapolis nightclub First Avenue and had items from Chris Osgood added to the National Museum of American History collection in 2021. On June 5, 2026, Steve Almaas, who were also member of Beat Rodeo and The Del-Lords, died of cancer at the age of 69. The Suicide Commandos disbanded soon after.
