Biography

Since 1974, the band Nervous Eaters has been a fixture on the Boston rock'n'roll scene, led by singer and guitarist Steve Cataldo. Although formed the previous year under the name Rhythm Assholes, the band accompanying Willie Alexander was now called Nervous Eaters, and in 1976 performed at The Rathskeller club, nicknamed The Rat, which was also the name of the label under which the band's first single, "Loretta", was released, followed in 1979 by "Just Head". With their new guitarist Jonathan Paley and his brother Andy Paley on keyboards, Nervous Eaters recorded a demo under the guidance of Ric Ocasek (The Cars), which led to the signing with the Elektra label for the recording of an untitled debut album, produced by Harry Maslin and released in 1980. With no commercial success despite very good reviews, the band folded in 1981, only to be reborn in 1986 with the six-track mini-album Hot Steel and Acid, released on the French label New Rose, then relayed in the U.S. by Ace of Hearts Records. After the release of Eat This in 2003, the compilations Eatville #1 and Eatville #2 and a new self-financed album, Record 10 in 2019, Nervous Eaters sign with Wicked Cool Records for the follow-ups, Monsters + Angels (2022) and Rock n Roll Your Heart Away (2024).
