The Spirit That Guides Us is an international emocore collective, formed in 2000 in the Netherlands. The band initially chose to remain anonymous, focusing on collective identity rather than individual members. Their debut album, The Sand, The Barrier, released in 2001, marked their entry into the music scene. In 2002, the song "Agnès" from this album reached number 5 on VPRO's year-end chart. The group's anonymity began to lift after the release of North and South in 2004, with members becoming more visible. Notable releases include We Are Under Reconstruction Part 1 (2006), which featured live recordings and remixes, and Don't Shoot, Let Us Burn (2008). Their album, Innocent Blood, was released in 2011.
