Yuppicide, a hardcore punk band from Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 1988. The group's name combined "yuppie" and "(homi)cide," reflecting their critique of the capitalist system. Yuppicide released their first single "Yuppicide" in 1990, followed by their debut album Fear Love in 1992. Their music was characterized by frequent tempo changes and intricate arrangements, often incorporating background noises and film citations. Notable albums include Shinebox (1993), which featured the song "New Jesus," and Dead Man Walking (1995). The band's live performances were known for their theatricality, with singer Jesse Jones often wearing masks and using props like gas masks. Yuppicide disbanded in 1999 but reunited in 2010.
