Biography
The Solitaires was an American doo-wop group formed in 1953 in the United States. The group consisted of Eddie Jones, Nick Anderson, Winston Willis, Rudy Morgan, and Pat Gaston. Herman Curtis served as the lead singer until Milton Love joined the ensemble in 1955. Their recordings include the singles âBlue Valentineâ (1954) and âI Don't Stand a Ghost of a Chance with Youâ (1954). The bandâs single âWalking Alongâ (1957) was subsequently covered by The Diamonds and reached number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. The group performed at venues including the Apollo Theater and the Howard Theater. The ensemble became inactive in 1961 before resuming activity with various lineups until 2019.
