The Singing Loins, a UK group from England known for their folk-punk style, formed during the Christmas season of 1990 in Chatham, Medway. The band was initially a duo consisting of Chris Broderick on vocals and guitar, and Arfur Allen on bass. Their first composition together, "Hauling In The Slack", led to performances in local pubs and clubs. Broderick's poetry caught the attention of Billy Childish, who produced their debut album Songs for the Organ in 1991. The band released several albums throughout the 1990s, including Steak and Gravy, At the Bridge with Billy Childish, and Penny Plain: Tuppence Coloured. Their later works include The Complete And Utter Singing Faraways (2004), Songs To Hear Before You Die (2005), and The Drowned Man Resuscitator (2007). Notable singles include "Alive in Dunkirk" and "The Ghost of Old Rose".
