The Simon Sisters, an American folk music duo consisting of Carly Simon and Lucy Simon, formed in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1963. The sisters began their musical journey together, making their television debut on the Hootenanny series in April 1963. They signed with Kapp Records that same year and released their debut album, Meet the Simon Sisters, in 1964. Their second album, Cuddlebug, was recorded during the same sessions and released in 1966. The duo achieved a minor hit with "Winkin', Blinkin' And Nod", a children's poem set to music by Lucy Simon, which reached Number 73 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1969, they signed with Columbia Records and released The Simon Sisters Sing the Lobster Quadrille and Other Songs for Children. The duo disbanded in 1969 when Lucy left to get married. Following their split, Carly Simon embarked on a successful solo career beginning in 1971, releasing over 23 studio albums that produced multiple top 40 hits across the U.S. Billboard charts, and winning two Grammy Awards (from 14 nominations), a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award, among numerous other accolades. Lucy Simon had a minor solo career in the 1970s before finding greater success writing music for Broadway plays; she received a Tony Award nomination for her music on The Secret Garden in 1991.
