Biography

Rumer is the stage name for Sarah Joyce, a platinum-selling British soul singer. Born in Pakistan on June 3, 1979, she moved to England at 11 years old and began writing songs after attending art school in Devon. Her 2010 debut album, Seasons of My Soul, was inspired by show tunes and the classic songs of Burt Bacharach and Irving Berlin. Smooth and melodic, the record reached Number 3 on the UK album chart, earned platinum certifications in the UK and Ireland, and resulted in a pair of Brit Award nominations. After covering artists like Jimmy Webb and Hall & Oates on 2012's Boys Don't Cry, Rumer showcased her own songwriting talent with 2014's Into Colour, then continued saluting her influences with records like 2016's This Girl's in Love: A Bacharach and David Songbook and 2020's Nashville Tears - The Songs of Hugh Prestwood.
