Biography

The Rua are a British family pop/rock act with a seam of Irish in their heritage. Roseanna Brown (vocals, guitar), Alanna Brown (piano, backing vocals) and Jonathan Brown (violin, guitar, vocals, backing vocals) grew up in Windsor, making frequent family trips back to Ireland. They were trained in classical music and exposed to Celtic folk, acting (each of them has appeared in at least one 'Harry Potter' film) as well as performing through their childhood. The trio released their first single as The Rua (the name is taken from the Hebrew word for 'essence') in 2014, and their full-length debut, 'Essence' followed the next year. In 2019 The Rua supported Westlife on 'The Twenty Tour' in the UK. They have also opened for US acts including Rachel Platten, Rob Thomas, Train, Adam Lambert, Michael Frantic and Spearhead, The Goo Goo Dolls, Karmin, A Great Big World, The Score and Third Eye Blind. The band's self-titled second album was released in September 2019.
