Biography
The Remo Four was a British rock band formed in 1958. Originally known as the Remo Quartet, the group turned professional and changed their name to the Remo Four in 1959. They gained recognition in the local scene and were voted number 3 in a 1961 Mersey Beat poll. In 1963, the band signed with Brian Epstein's NEMS Enterprises and released singles including "Tip of My Tongue" (1963) and "Kiss Me Now" (1963) while backing lead singer Tommy Quickly. The Remo Four also released their own instrumental recordings, such as a rendition of "Peter Gunn" (1964) and the single "Sally Go Round the Roses" (1964). In 1967, the band recorded the album Smile! and served as the backing band for George Harrison on the movie soundtrack Wonderwall, recording the song "In the First Place". The Remo Four worked as the backing band for Billy Fury before disbanding in 1970.
