The Pillbugs were an American power pop and psychedelic pop group from Toledo, Ohio, initially formed in 1991 as Mark Mikel and consisted of Mark Mikel (vocals/guitar/keyboards), David Murnen (vocals/percussion), Mark Kelley (vocals/bass), Scott Tabner (guitar), and Dan Chalmers (drums/vocals). The band changed their name to The Pillbugs in 1998 and released their first self-titled album in the same year. In 2003, they released The 3-Dimensional in-Popcycle Dream, followed by Happy Birthday in 2004 and Buzz for Aldrin in 2007. The Pillbugs gained significant attention when USA Today music editor Ken Barnes featured "All in Good Time" and "4 sec Nightmare in a 5 sec Dream" in his Pick of the Week column. This was followed by their album Monclovia (2007), released by Rainbow Quartz. The Pillbugs disbanded in May 2008 following Mark Kelley's death from an endocrine disorder. Their final album, Everybody Wants a Way Out, was released on November 10, 2008.
