Biography
The Idea of North, an Australian a cappella vocal ensemble, was founded in Canberra in 1993 by Nick Begbie, Meg Corson, Trish Delaney-Brown, and Andrew Piper. Their debut album, The Idea of North, was released in 1997, featuring jazz standards and contemporary material arranged by the group. In 2001, they released their second album, The Sum of Us. The group won two ARIA awards for Best Jazz Album in 2010 for "Feels Like Spring" (a collaboration with James Morrison) and again in 2013 for Smile, as well as three other ARIA nominations. The Idea of North has had several personnel changes over the years, with Nick Begbie being the only remaining original member as of 2024.
