Biography

The Halos were a US-based doo-wop vocal quartet active in the early 1960s. Originally formed as a backing group for various solo artists, The Halos provided vocals for notable performers such as Tommy Hunt, Bobby Vinton, Johnny Nash, Little Eva, Johnny Mathis, Dion, The Coasters, Connie Francis, Brian Hyland, and Ben E. King. Their work included background vocals on Curtis Lee's "Pretty Little Angel Eyes" and other hits like Barry Mann's "Who Put The Bomp", Gene Pitney's "Every Breath I Take", and Ben E. King's "My Heart Cries For You". In 1961, The Halos achieved their own chart success with the single "Nag", which peaked at number 25 on the US charts. This breakthrough led to increased demand for their background vocals. Their debut album Copy Cat was released in the same year and featured tracks such as "Your Precious Love" and "Bird Dog". The group's discography also includes notable songs like "I Went To A Party", "If I Had Known What’d I Say", "Mean Old World", "Down The Road", "Crazy Bells", "Oh What A Night", and "Come On". Founding member Arthur Crier passed away on July 22, 2004.
