Biography
The Grip Weeds, an American rock band from Highland Park, New Jersey, was formed in 1988 by brothers Rick Reil and Kurt Reil. The group began their recording career with the 1992 release See You Through on Ground Up Records, followed by the single "She Brings The Rain" for Twang! Records. Their debut full-length album, House of Vibes, was released in 1994 and recorded at their own home studio of the same name. Subsequent albums include The Sound is in You (1998), Summer of a Thousand Years (2001), and Giant on the Beach (2004). Notable collaborations include vocal support from "Little Steven" Van Zandt. The band also released several albums, such as How I Won the War (2015), DiG (2021), and Soul Bender (2025). The Grip Weeds have performed extensively across the United States and Europe, with appearances at the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference in Austin, Texas, and at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, England.
