Biography

The Cavedogs were an American power pop band formed in Boston during the mid-1980s. The trio consisted of Brian Stevens, Todd Spahr, and Mark Rivers. They gained local success with early radio tapes such as "Tayter Country" and an independently released 7" single "Step Down". In 1989, they signed to Enigma Records, a subsidiary of Capitol Records. Their debut album Joy Rides for Shut-Ins was produced by Ed Stasium and released in 1990. The band toured with notable acts such as The Dead Milkmen and Mojo Nixon. In 1992, they released their second album Soul Martini, which included the single "Boy In A Plastic Bubble". Capitol Records dropped the band shortly before the release of their single "Love Grenade", leading to their disbandment. The Cavedogs occasionally reunited for performances between 2001 and 2025.
