Biography

The Bears is an American power pop band formed in 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The group's original lineup consisted of Adrian Belew on guitar and vocals, Rob Fetters on guitar and vocals, Chris Arduser on drums and vocals, and Bob Nyswonger on bass. Before forming the band, Fetters and Nyswonger were members of the Raisins, a local band that had a local Number 1 hit single, "Fear is Never Boring" (1983), while Arduser was a former member who had left years prior. They released their self-titled debut album The Bears (1987), followed by Rise and Shine (1988). They embarked on extensive tours and gained critical acclaim but faced disappointing sales. After the closure of their label P.M.R.C., they disbanded in 1989. They reunited periodically for recording sessions and live performances, releasing albums such as Car Caught Fire (2001) and Eureka! (2007).
