Biography

The Fizz are a British pop vocal group formed in 2004 as a spin-off from Bucks Fizz. Its lineup features Cheryl Baker, Jay Aston, Matthew Pateman and Nikk Mager as vocalists, while the group’s earlier history centered on former Bucks Fizz members Baker, Mike Nolan and Shelley Preston before Aston joined in 2009. Initially known as The Original Bucks Fizz and later Formerly of Bucks Fizz, the act continued performing the Eurovision-era catalog associated with Bucks Fizz, including "Making Your Mind Up," the 1981 Eurovision-winning single. Bobby McVay joined in 2015, when the group became a quartet and adopted the name The Fizz, before leaving in 2018. Their recording career resumed with producer Mike Stock on The F-Z of Pop in 2017, a bright pop album that reached number 25 on the UK Albums Chart and became the highest-charting Bucks Fizz-related studio album in decades. The group followed with Christmas with the Fizz in 2018 and Smoke & Mirrors in 2020, the latter reaching number 29 in the UK and featuring tracks such as "The World We Left Behind" and "T.O.T.P." Nolan announced his departure in 2024, and The Fizz continued with new members Matthew Pateman and Nikk Mager. In 2026, they reunited with Mike Stock for "A Crazy Shot in the Dark," a single released to mark 45 years since the Bucks Fizz Eurovision win that peaked at number 31 on the UK Singles Sales Official Chart.
