Biography

Attempting to join the boy band craze of the 1990s, Worlds Apart had fresh-faced good looks, synchronised dance moves and slushy, romantic pop ballads and found success in France and across Europe. Formed in London in 1992 with Backstreet Boys, NSync and Take That as their template, Simon Cowell picked Steve Hart to front the group and write many of the songs. They scored the UK top 20 hits "Everlasting Love" and "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love" and released debut album Together in 1993. They weren't able to compete with the phenomenon of Boyzone and later Westlife, but with former Brother Beyond singer Nathan Moore joining in 1994 they went on to top the charts in France with second album Everybody and positioned themselves as an multi-national act who sang in different languages. Hits in Europe included "Baby Come Back" in France, "Love Message" in Germany and "Je Te Donne" in Belgium and they notched up record sales of over ten million, filmed 26 music videos and even released Haribo sweets in the shape of each band member's face. They also found popularity in Japan and across the Far East and had "Baby Come Back" used as the theme tune to a Brazilian soap opera, before they split in 2002 after albums Don't Change (1997), Here and Now (2000), and The Brotherhood (issued in 2003). They reunited in 2007 and released the collection album Platinum with new track "On Écrit sur les Murs".
