Biography

The Even Dozen Jug Band was an American folk music band formed in New York City in 1963 by Stefan Grossman and Peter Siegel. The group emerged during the height of the folk revival movement, with members including David Grisman on mandolin, Steve Katz, Maria Muldaur, Joshua Rifkin, and John Sebastian. In 1964, they released their debut album The Even Dozen Jug Band for Elektra Records, which was well-received by critics. The band performed several live shows, including two at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Despite their brief existence, the group's impact was significant due to the successful careers of its members.
