Biography

The Creaking Tree String Quartet, a Canadian progressive bluegrass band from Toronto, formed in 2004 and consisted of John Showman on fiddle, Andrew Collins on mandolin, Brad Keller on guitar, and Brian Kobayakawa on bass. Their debut album, The Creaking Trees, was released that year and nominated for a Juno Award. In 2005, they performed at the Glenn Gould Studio and released their second album, Side Two, which won a Canadian Folk Music Award. The band's third album, The Sound Track (2007), earned two Canadian Folk Music Awards and another Juno nomination in 2007. They performed at festivals such as the Calgary Folk Music Festival and Toronto CityFest, and toured the US and western Canada. By 2010, they had released their fourth album, Sundogs.
