Biography

The Cravats, an English punk rock band from Redditch, were founded in 1977 by Robin Dallaway and The Shend. Their first single "Gordon" was released in 1978. The band's breakthrough came with a recording session for John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show and subsequent signing with Small Wonder Records. In October 1980, they released their debut album In Toytown. The Cravats disbanded at the end of 1982 but reformed in 2006 with a compilation release The Land of the Giants: The Best of the Jazz-Punk Colossals and new track "Seance" featuring Paul Hartnoll. In August 2009, original members The Shend and Svor Naan began performing live again, leading to further releases including Dustbin of Sound in October 2017 and Hoorahland in May 2020.
