Biography
One of the most successful family bands in gospel music history, The Crabb Family formed in 1996 in rural Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Overseen by the Dove-winning songwriter Gerald Crabb and his wife, Kathy, the group also featured six of the pair's seven children, including Adam, Aaron, Terah, Kelly, and future Grammy-winning solo artist Jason Crabb. Beginning with their 1996 debut, Still Holdin' On, the Crabbs released a string of albums that mixed country arrangements with gospel themes. The combination proved to be quite successful, resulting in more than dozen Number 1 gospel hits â including 1997's "Please Forgive Me," 1998's "Trail of Tears," 2000's "Through the Fire," 2001's "The Reason That I'm Standing," and 2007's "Give It All To Him" â as well as 11 GMA Dove Awards. Not only popular within the Christian market, The Crabb Family also enjoyed a country audience, even playing the Grand Ole Opry in support of the group's 2006 album, Blur The Lines, which peaked at Number 7 on Billboard's Christian Albums chart. One year after Blur The Lines' release, the band embarked upon an indefinite hiatus as its members pursued solo careers, with lead singer Jason Crabb emerging as the group's most successful export. The Crabb Family then reunited for 2012's Together Again and continued to tour on periodic basis throughout the following decade, releasing 2020's 20/20 along the way.
