The Charts, an American doo-wop group formed in 1956 in Harlem, New York. The original lineup included Joe Grier, Stephen Brown, Glenmore Jackson, Leroy Binns, and Ross Buford. Initially known as The Thrilltones, they changed their name to The Charts under the management of Les Cooper. Their breakthrough came with the single "Deserie", released in 1957 on the Everlast label, which peaked at number 3 on the national R&B charts and was later featured on many doo-wop compilations. After a few more singles, the group disbanded in 1958 when Grier went into service. Brown and Binns continued performing as The Charts with new members, releasing an updated version of "Deserie" titled "Desiree" in 1967, and continued touring and appearing at doo-wop revival concerts with various versions of The Charts until around 1983. Leroy Binns died in January 2020.
