The Chantoozies, an Australian pop group, formed in 1986 and consisted of four female vocalistsâEve von Bibra, Angie La Bozzetta, Ally Fowler, and Tottie Goldsmithâand four male musiciansâBrett Goldsmith, Scott Griffiths, Frank McCoy, and David Reyne. The band's name is an intentional mispronunciation of the French word for a female singer, "chanteuse." Their debut single, "Witch Queen", released in January 1987 on Mushroom Records, peaked at number 4 on the Australian singles chart. The group achieved significant success throughout the late '80s and early '90s, selling over 300,000 records and earning Gold and Platinum status in Australia. Their self-titled debut album was released in August 1988, featuring notable tracks such as "Wanna Be Up" and "Kiss 'N' Tell". The band's second studio album, Gild the Lily, was released in April 1991. In early 2014, after a hiatus of over two decades, The Chantoozies returned with a cover of Promises' "Baby It's You", produced by Pseudo Echo frontman Brian Canham. Following the release of Gild the Lily, the group disbanded in 1992.
