Biography

The Blue Note 7, a jazz band formed in 2008 in the United States of America, was created to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Blue Note Records. The group consisted of Peter Bernstein on guitar, Bill Charlap on piano, Ravi Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Lewis Nash on drums, Nicholas Payton on trumpet, Peter Washington on bass, and Steve Wilson on alto saxophone and flute. Their debut album, Mosaic: A Celebration of Blue Note Records, was released in 2009 on Blue Note Records / EMI. The album featured arrangements by band members and Renee Rosnes, including tracks like "Mosaic" (arranged by Lewis Nash) and "Inner Urge" (arranged by Nicholas Payton). Following the release, The Blue Note 7 toured the United States from January to April 2009.
