The Balham Alligators were a British musical group formed in London in 1983, known for their unique blend of rock 'n' roll, blues, R&B, Celtic folk, swamp-pop, country, swing, Cajun, and zydeco. The band was centered around singer and instrumentalist Geraint Watkins, along with Robin McKidd, Kieran O'Connor, Arthur Kitchener, and Gary Rickard. The group came together by chance at a London pub and quickly gained traction with their hybrid musical style. Their early albums included The Balham Alligators (1987) and Life in the Bus Lane (1988). However, constant touring led to internal issues, including the death of Kieran O'Connor in 1991 and the departure of several members. The band disbanded briefly but reunited in 1995 with new members Bobby Irwin and Paul Riley. Subsequent releases include Gateway to The South (1996) and A Po' Boy 'n' Make It Snappy (1997).
