Biography

Loudest Whisper, an Irish folk rock/progressive folk group, was formed in Fermoy, Ireland, in the early 1970s. Initially known as the Wizards, they transitioned to Loudest Whisper and focused on original material inspired by Irish folklore. Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut album The Children of Lir in 1974, a folk opera based on the Irish legend of the same name, which became one of the most sought-after records in Ireland. The band released several albums and over a dozen singles throughout their career, including "You and I" (1979), "Home" (1980), Loudest Whisper (1981), and Hard Times (1982). Loudest Whisper became dormant in the mid-1980s but reformed in the mid-1990s, releasing new albums such as Our World in 2004 and Blue... is the Colour of Time in 2014.
