Biography
The Babys are a British rock band best known for the songs "Isn't It Time" in 1977 and "Every Time I Think of You" the following year. Formed in London in 1975, after a few initial changes, it featured Mike (Michael) Corby (guitar, keyboards), John Waite (bass, vocals), Wally Stocker (guitar) and Tony Brock (drums), all of whom were present on the first album of the same name, which revealed the band's AOR musical leanings on the Chrysalis label. From their second album, Broken Hearts, the power pop track "Isn't It Time" reached No. 13 in the U.S. (No. 1 in Australia), as did "Every Time I Think of You", from the following album, Head First. Reduced to a trio of Waite, Stocker and Brock in 1979, The Babys recruited Jonathan Cain and Ricky Phillips for Union Jacks (1980) and split up after the release of On the Edge, released the same year. Following John Waite's solo success and the formation of the Bad English supergroup featuring the same, Cain and Phillips, The Babys reunited in 2013 around Brock and Stocker, accompanied by Americans John Bisaha (bass, vocals) and Joey Sykes (guitar). The group recorded the album I'll Have Some of That! (2014) and has been performing occasionally ever since.
